Am 05. September 2006 wäre Freddie Mercury 60 Jahre alt geworden. Zu diesem besonderen Jahrestag veranstalten Queen und EMI Music Geburtstagsparties in London und in Köln. In der Domstadt wird die Feier rund um die Aufführung des Queen Erfolgs-Musicals WE WILL ROCK YOU im Musical Dome Köln stattfinden: das Showticket berechtigt zugleich zur Teilnahme an der Party. (Zugang zum Musical Dome: ab 18.30 Uhr, Einlass in den Saal ab 19.30 Uhr, Beginn: 20.00 Uhr).

Mit Unterstützung von Freddies Familie und in Zusammenarbeit mit den internationalen Fanclubs wird die Vorstellung am 05.09.2006 ganz im Zeichen von Freddie Mercury stehen. Der Erlös jedes verkauften Tickets wird an den Mercury Phoenix Trust gespendet. Die Stiftung wurde von Brian May, Roger Taylor und Jim Beach nach Freddies Tod 1991 gegründet, um das AIDS-Virus weltweit zu bekämpfen.

Alle Fans sind herzlich in den Kölner Musical Dome eingeladen, um zusammen mit dem Musical-Ensemble, diversen Gästen und bei der anschliessenden großer Aftershow-Geburtstagsparty mit einer Live-Session der WE WILL ROCK YOU-Band, Freddie Mercurys Ehrentag mit zahlreichen Überraschungen zu feiern!

THE OFFICIAL FREDDIE MERCURY 60th BIRTHDAY PARTY
On September 5th 2006 Freddie Mercury would have been 60, and, to celebrate, EMI Records and Queen are throwing Birthday Parties in his honour in London and Cologne. Each celebration will be centred around a performance of the world-wide smash hit musical We Will Rock You.

With the blessing of Freddie’s family, and in association with the International Queen fan clubs, the whole evening will be dedicated to both Freddie and his fans. The proceeds from every ticket bought for these very special performances of We Will Rock You will go to the Mercury Phoenix Trust - Fighting AIDS Worldwide, the charity set up by Brian May, Roger Taylor and Jim Beach following Freddie’s death in 1991.

Depending on the party you attend, there will also be one-off script features, red carpets, competitions, special Freddie Mercury moments, Mercury Phoenix Trust collections, official mementos and special guests! The whole evening will also be filmed and photographed with a view to recording the evening’s frivolities!

In London, Capital Gold have lent their considerable support to the event and will be running a Freddie Mercury week that will include some superb competition prizes, plus, of course, hours of Queen and Freddie hits. In Cologne, there will also be great support by the main radio-station WDR 2.

THE ’MOST OUTRAGEOUSLY DRESSED’ COMPETITION
To add to the party atmosphere and sense of occasion, guests at both shows will be encouraged to attend in fancy dress. There will be a special award on the night for the ’Most Outrageously Dressed’.

The winner at the Dominion Theatre will receive flights, hotel and tickets for two, for the opening night of We Will Rock You in Durban, South Africa on 30th September 2006. The winner in Cologne will receive two tickets for the We Will Rock You opening night in Zurich, Switzerland on 3rd December 2006, also with hotel accommodation.

There will be an additional Freddie Mercury 60th Birthday Party at ’Roosevelt’ (160 Bree Street) in Cape Town, South Africa after the show at the Artscape Theatre. The party with be fancy dress and will include We Will Rock You and Queen prizes given out that evening. Entry to the party will be via a donation to the Mercury Phoenix Trust and a Birthday card. In addition, We Will Rock You Cape Town will be donating 15% of the house from the performance on the 5th of August to the Trust.
